The Ark of Revelation 1961-64

The installation of the two-ton Ark of Revelation was lauded as a masterpiece and noted by scholar Samuel Gruber as one of “the major works of Judaica in the last half century.” The Ark, measuring 14 by 15 feet, consists of 18 rectangular panels of irregular size, each depicting a moment of revelation. Combining a mix of high and low relief, Luise "sought to give visual and symbolic form to the words of the patriarch and prophet in an unremitting dialogue with God . . . to have it reveal in the mysterious play of light over its forms the inner sense of being, of revelation, of covenant."
