The Wall of Martyrs, 1972-74, bronze, 7 1/2 x 17 feet

Temple Beth El in New Rochelle commissioned Kaish to create The Wall of Martyrs, a series of bronze reliefs that depicts Jewish martyrdom through history while she was finishing a two-year Rome Prize Fellowship at the American Academy in Rome. The purpose of the memorial was to put the horrors of the Holocaust into a historical context, and encourage a deeper understanding of three millennia of Jewish history.
